Striped Bass

While North Bend, Nebraska, isn't a traditional striped bass hotspot, some anglers have reported catching them in the Platte River system, especially after flood events that might allow stripers to move upstream from more established populations downstream. However, targeting them specifically would be considered a long shot. If you're determined, focus on the main channel of the Platte River, particularly near confluences with smaller tributaries or areas with significant current. Spring and fall are the most likely times to encounter them, should they be present. Given the rarity of striped bass in this area, consider using live bait or large swimbaits that mimic the size of prey fish they would typically target. Be aware that regulations regarding striped bass may differ from other species, so check the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission guidelines carefully. Realistically, consider this a bonus catch rather than a primary target species.
