If you're chasing striped bass in Tennessee, don't overlook Fayetteville. Tims Ford Lake, a reservoir on the Elk River, is the key. This deep, clear lake provides excellent habitat for stripers, particularly below the dam where cooler, oxygenated water is released. Spring and fall are prime times, as stripers move shallower to feed. During the summer months, focus on deeper water near the dam using downriggers or trolling with large crankbaits. A local tip: check the generation schedule for Tims Ford Dam. Fishing can be especially productive during and immediately after periods of water release. Also, be aware that the striper population in Tims Ford is maintained through stocking, so size and bag limits are strictly enforced. Respect the regulations to help maintain this fantastic fishery.
