Wahoo

Various

Chasing Wahoo off Port Orange, Florida, is an offshore game that demands attention to detail. These speedsters are often found patrolling the Gulf Stream, so a boat capable of handling offshore conditions is a must. The best time to target Wahoo is generally during the warmer months, when the Gulf Stream pushes closer to shore. High-speed trolling with lures specifically designed for Wahoo is a popular technique. Look for areas with weed lines, floating debris, or color changes in the water, as these often hold baitfish that attract Wahoo. A local tip is to use wire leaders to prevent bite-offs, as Wahoo have razor-sharp teeth. The Ponce de Leon Inlet is your gateway to the Atlantic, with several marinas offering fuel and supplies. Wahoo are known for their blistering runs, so be prepared for an adrenaline-pumping fight. Remember to check the latest fishing reports for current conditions and Wahoo activity in the area.
