Walleye fishing around Malad City requires a bit of a drive, but the reward can be worth it. During the spring spawn, walleye will move into shallower areas to reproduce, making them more accessible to anglers. In the fall, they'll be actively feeding to prepare for winter. Jigs tipped with nightcrawlers or minnows are classic walleye presentations. Trolling crankbaits along submerged structure is also effective. A local tip: Lake Walcott can get windy, so be prepared for potentially rough conditions, especially if you're in a smaller boat. Also, pay attention to the current coming from the dam as it can concentrate fish. Lake Walcott's walleye fishery is supported by stocking efforts, so you'll find a good mix of sizes, with the potential for some real trophies.
