White Bass

While Benson, Arizona, isn't exactly a white bass mecca, dedicated anglers can find them in some of the area's reservoirs with a bit of effort. A key factor is that white bass populations can fluctuate significantly depending on water levels and spawning success. Focus your efforts on Parker Canyon Lake and Patagonia Lake. These lakes are stocked with various species, and white bass sometimes thrive. Spring is prime time, coinciding with their spawning runs when they congregate in shallower areas. Look for inflows and points where the wind is blowing in, concentrating baitfish. Trolling crankbaits or casting small spinners and jigs can be effective. Be sure to check current stocking reports from Arizona Game and Fish to see if there have been recent introductions or indications of a healthy population. Access to both lakes is well-maintained, but be mindful of potential wind, which can pick up quickly in the afternoons.
