White Bass

While not as well-known as some other Georgia fisheries, Smyrna offers opportunities to chase white bass, particularly during their spring spawning runs. These fish migrate upstream in the Chattahoochee River and its tributaries, providing exciting action for anglers. The best time to target them is typically from late February through April, depending on water temperatures and flow. Look for areas with current breaks, such as shoals, riffles, and bridge pilings. Small jigs, spinners, and crankbaits are all effective lures. A local tip is to check the water levels and clarity before heading out, as heavy rains can impact fishing conditions.
