White Bass

If you're looking for some exciting white bass action in northwest Oklahoma, Arnett offers several smaller lakes and reservoirs that can really turn on during the spring spawning run. While Canton Lake gets most of the attention, don't overlook the smaller bodies of water closer to Arnett; they often hold impressive numbers of whites. The key here is timing: target late March through early May, when the whites are moving upstream to spawn. Focus on creek inlets and areas with rocky or gravelly bottoms. A simple white or chartreuse jig, or a small crankbait retrieved quickly, is often all it takes. Local tip: check water levels before heading out, as these smaller lakes can fluctuate significantly. Also, be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends during peak season.
