Bluegill

Pembroke offers some surprisingly good bluegill fishing, particularly in the quieter backwaters and ponds connected to the Ogeechee River. These fish thrive in the warm, shallow waters and abundant vegetation. Spring and summer are the peak seasons, especially during the spawning months when they congregate in large numbers near the shoreline. A simple setup of a cane pole, bobber, and worm is often all you need. Crickets and small artificial lures also work well. A local tip: target areas near fallen trees and submerged vegetation. Bluegill are plentiful, but some of the larger specimens can be found in areas with less fishing pressure. Be aware of alligators, especially during warmer months, and keep a safe distance. Many of the smaller ponds are accessible from the bank, making it a great option for family fishing.
