Channel Catfish

Channel Catfish are a popular target for anglers around Adams, Nebraska, and for good reason – they're plentiful and relatively easy to catch. The best place to find them is in the larger rivers and creeks in the area. The Big Blue River, which flows nearby, is a prime location. Look for deep holes, log jams, and areas with current breaks. Summer is the peak season for catfishing, especially after dark. Traditional catfish baits like stink baits, chicken liver, and nightcrawlers work well here. A simple slip-sinker rig is often all you need. Be aware that the river can be muddy at times, especially after heavy rains, so use baits with a strong scent. Public access is available at various bridge crossings and access points along the Big Blue River. Check local regulations regarding size and creel limits. The channel catfish in this region tend to be good eaters, with many fish in the 2-5 pound range.
