Channel Catfish
If you're looking for some whiskered action in northeast Wyoming, Hulett offers some surprisingly good channel catfishing. While not as well-known as some other Wyoming fisheries, the Belle Fourche River near Hulett holds a healthy population of channel cats. Anglers will also find catfish in Keyhole Reservoir, about a 20 minute drive from Hulett. The best time to target them is during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall, with the peak usually occurring during their spawning season in early summer. Night fishing can be particularly productive. Local tip: Focus on areas with submerged structure or near the river channel. Also, be mindful of water levels in the Belle Fourche, as they can fluctuate. Bring your stinkbaits, worms, and cut bait – the catfish here aren't too picky, but fresh bait is always a plus.
