Largemouth Bass

For largemouth bass anglers, Denning, Arkansas, provides access to some excellent fishing in the Ozark region. The nearby Mulberry River, though known for its smallmouth, also holds a decent population of largemouth bass in its backwater sloughs and slower-moving sections. Lake Dardanelle, a short drive away, is a more consistent largemouth fishery. Spring and fall are prime times, as bass move into shallower water to spawn or feed before winter. Early mornings and late evenings are particularly productive. Consider launching from the state park ramp on Lake Dardanelle for easy access to a variety of bass habitats. A local tip: Pay attention to water clarity; if the water is clear, use natural-colored lures, but if it's stained, opt for brighter colors or lures with rattles. The largemouth in this area tend to be aggressive and will readily strike topwater lures or crankbaits.
