Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass anglers heading to Barryton, Michigan, will find some promising options in the area's numerous lakes and ponds. While no single body of water dominates, places like Chippewa Lake offer good bass habitat. Focus your efforts around weed lines, docks, and submerged structure. Spring and early summer, during and after the spawn, are particularly productive. Topwater lures, such as frogs and buzzbaits, can be deadly in the thick vegetation. Later in the season, switch to deeper-diving crankbaits and Texas-rigged worms to target bass holding in cooler water. The largemouth in this region tend to be relatively pressured, so experiment with different presentations and lure colors to find what the fish are responding to on a given day.
