Largemouth Bass

While Bloomfield Hills might be known for its upscale neighborhoods, it also offers surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing in its many lakes and ponds. The key to success here is understanding the structure and cover that largemouth love. Look for docks, weed beds, lily pads, and submerged timber. Early morning and late evening are generally the best times to target largemouth, especially during the warmer months. Spring (April-May) sees the bass moving into shallower waters to spawn, making them more accessible. Summer can be productive as well, but you'll need to fish deeper and around heavy cover. A local tip is to try fishing with weedless lures, such as Texas-rigged worms or frogs, to navigate the thick vegetation. The largemouth in these smaller bodies of water can be surprisingly aggressive, and you might even find some real trophies if you know where to look.
