Largemouth Bass

While Center Line itself is heavily urbanized, decent Largemouth Bass fishing can be found within a short drive. The Clinton River and its associated canals and backwaters offer surprisingly good bass habitat. Look for areas with vegetation, docks, and other structure that provide cover for bass. Lake St. Clair Metropark, a short drive east, also provides access to Lake St. Clair and its associated canals, which hold a healthy population of bass. Spring and fall are the prime times, with bass being most active during the spawn in the spring and as they feed up before winter in the fall. Plastic worms, jigs, and crankbaits are all effective lures. Early morning and late evening are often the best times to fish, especially during the warmer months. Access to the Clinton River can be found at various parks and access points along its course. Be mindful of the urban environment and practice catch and release to help maintain the fishery. Bass in this area tend to be pressured, so finesse tactics can be effective.
