Northern Pike

Targeting Northern Pike near Center Line requires venturing outside the immediate city limits, but the effort can be rewarding. Lake St. Clair, easily accessible from Center Line, is known for its excellent pike fishing. Focus on the canals, bays, and weed beds along the lake's shoreline. The Clinton River spillway into Lake St. Clair can also be a productive spot. Spring and fall are the best seasons, with pike being most active in cooler water. Early spring, just after ice-out, can be particularly good as pike move into shallow water to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lures. A steel leader is essential due to the pike's sharp teeth. Metro Beach Metropark offers excellent boat launch facilities. Be prepared to cover water, as pike can be spread out throughout the lake. Lake St. Clair is known for producing some truly large pike, so be prepared for a potential trophy catch.
