Coleman, Michigan, and the surrounding area offer some great largemouth bass fishing in its many lakes and impoundments. Wixom Lake, before its dam failure, was a premier destination, but even with the changed landscape, the area still holds potential. Sanford Lake, further south, is a good option to explore. Focus on areas with remaining submerged structure, weed beds, and docks, as these provide cover for bass. Spring and fall are peak seasons for bass activity, as they are actively feeding. During the summer, target deeper water or fish during early morning and late evening hours. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastic worms are popular lure choices. Local anglers often have success flipping jigs around docks and fallen timber. The largemouth bass in this region are known for their aggressive strikes and good size.
