Northern Pike

For northern pike enthusiasts, the waters around Coleman, Michigan, offer some exciting possibilities. While the Chippewa River itself can hold pike, the surrounding lakes and reservoirs are generally more productive. Wixom Lake and Sanford Lake (though affected by dam failures in recent years, check current conditions) have historically been known to hold decent populations of pike. Focus on weedy bays, shallow flats, and areas near creek mouths. Spring and early summer, after the spawn, are prime times to target pike as they aggressively feed.
