Largemouth Bass

Pinconning, situated near Saginaw Bay, offers access to some fantastic largemouth bass fishing in the surrounding waterways. While the bay itself is more known for walleye, the rivers and connected lakes provide excellent bass habitat. The Pinconning River and nearby Quanicassee River are great starting points. Look for bass around docks, fallen timber, and weed beds. Early morning and late evening are usually the most productive times. Spring, particularly during the pre-spawn and spawn, is a prime time to target larger bass. A local tip: Pay attention to water clarity. If the water is clear, use more natural-looking baits and presentations. If the water is murky, opt for brighter colors and lures that create a lot of vibration. Also, be aware that the water levels in these rivers can fluctuate, so check conditions before heading out. Overall, the bass in this area are known for being aggressive, making for exciting fishing.
