Largemouth Bass

Sand Lake, Michigan, offers some fantastic largemouth bass fishing opportunities, primarily in its namesake lake and the surrounding smaller lakes and connecting waterways. What makes this area special is the mix of shallow, weedy bays and deeper, clearer sections, providing diverse habitat for bass of all sizes. Spring is prime time, as the bass move into the shallows to spawn. Look for them near lily pads, reeds, and submerged timber. Early morning and late evening are particularly productive. A local tip: try fishing the channels connecting Sand Lake to other smaller lakes; these areas often hold good numbers of bass ambushing prey. Soft plastics like worms and creature baits, rigged weedless, are always a solid choice.
