Largemouth Bass

Shoreham, Michigan, located near Lake Michigan, offers some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing in its inland lakes and ponds. While not as widely known as other bass destinations in the state, the smaller lakes scattered throughout the area can hold some real gems. Look for bodies of water connected to the Paw Paw River or other tributaries. These lakes often feature abundant vegetation, providing excellent habitat for largemouth. Early morning and late evening are often the most productive times to fish, especially during the warmer months. Spinnerbaits, plastic worms, and topwater frogs are effective lures for fishing around vegetation. A practical tip: Many of these smaller lakes have limited access, so scouting for public access points or obtaining permission to fish from private landowners may be necessary. Also, be mindful of the water clarity, as some of these lakes can be stained, requiring adjustments to your lure selection and presentation.
