Largemouth Bass

Gordon, Nebraska, and the surrounding Sandhills region offer some excellent largemouth bass fishing opportunities in its numerous small lakes and ponds. These bodies of water are often overlooked, offering anglers a chance to find unpressured fish. The best time to target largemouth bass in this area is during the spring and fall months, when the water temperatures are more moderate. During the summer, fish can often be found in deeper water or under heavy vegetation. Topwater lures, spinnerbaits, and plastic worms are all effective choices. A local tip: many of these lakes are on private land, so be sure to obtain permission before fishing. Also, be aware that the water in some of these lakes can be very clear, so using lighter line and making long casts can be beneficial. The largemouth bass in this area tend to be relatively healthy and aggressive, making for an exciting fishing experience.
