Largemouth Bass

While Sea Isle City is primarily known for its saltwater fishing, don't overlook the freshwater opportunities for largemouth bass in the surrounding areas. Explore the network of creeks, ponds, and backwaters connected to the Tuckahoe River and Great Egg Harbor River. These brackish and freshwater environments hold surprisingly good bass populations. Spring and fall are prime times, as the bass are actively feeding before and after the summer heat. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation, fallen timber, and points where creeks enter larger bodies of water. For shore access, try exploring the perimeter of some of the larger impoundments further inland. A kayak or small boat will significantly expand your reach. Remember to check local regulations regarding licenses and access, as some areas may have restrictions. The bass here tend to be opportunistic feeders, so a variety of lures like crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics can be effective.
