Northern Pike

Targeting Northern Pike near Barrington, Illinois, means exploring the Fox River and its associated backwaters and sloughs. While not known for trophy pike, the Fox offers a chance to tangle with these aggressive predators. Spring is prime time, as pike move into shallow, weedy areas to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective, especially in flashy colors. As the water warms, focus on deeper weed edges and submerged timber.
