These predatory fish lurk in weedy areas and along current breaks, waiting to ambush prey. Early spring, right after ice-out, and late fall, as the water cools, are the most productive times. Pike are aggressive feeders, so large spoons, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits work well. Consider using a wire leader to prevent bite-offs, as pike have sharp teeth.
