Northern Pike

Northern Pike in McCullom Lake offer a thrilling alternative to bass fishing. These predatory fish thrive in the lake's weedy environment, ambushing prey along the edges of submerged vegetation. Spring, after the ice melts, and fall, as the water cools, are the best times to target pike. They'll be aggressively feeding to spawn or prepare for winter. Try using large spinnerbaits, spoons, or crankbaits to trigger strikes. A wire leader is essential to prevent bite-offs. A local tip: focus on the weedy bays on the north and west sides of the lake. Public access is available, but a boat or kayak will allow you to cover more water and reach prime pike habitat. While McCullom Lake doesn't produce monster pike, you can expect to find fish in the 3-6 pound range, with the occasional larger specimen.
