Northern Pike

If you're hunting for northern pike near Belleville, Michigan, Belleville Lake and the Huron River are your primary targets. Belleville Lake, with its weedy shallows and abundant forage fish, provides excellent pike habitat. The Huron River, both above and below the lake, also holds pike, particularly in areas with slow current and submerged structure. Spring is a fantastic time to target pike, as they move into shallow bays to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective choices. Fall is another great time, as pike aggressively feed before winter. A local tip: Pike in Belleville Lake can be found near the edges of weed beds. Try trolling or casting along these edges with a wire leader to prevent bite-offs. The pike in this area can be quite large, so be sure to use heavy tackle. Public boat launches on Belleville Lake provide easy access, but be prepared for some boat traffic, especially on weekends.
