Northern Pike

If you're looking to tangle with some toothy Northern Pike, Greenville, Michigan offers some excellent freshwater opportunities. The Flat River, which winds its way through the area, is a prime location. Also, nearby lakes such as Baldwin Lake and Lincoln Lake, are known pike hotspots. Spring, just after ice-out, is an exceptional time, as the pike move into shallower waters to spawn. Fall is also productive as they feed aggressively before winter. For bank anglers, try accessing the Flat River from one of the many roadside parks along M-57. For boaters, the public launch on Baldwin Lake is a good starting point. Be prepared for some stained water conditions in the Flat River, so brighter colored lures or those with plenty of vibration can be effective. Local pike tend to be aggressive ambush predators, so focus on areas with weeds, fallen timber, or sharp drop-offs.
