Northern Pike

If you're after Northern Pike near Mount Morris, Michigan, your best bet is to explore the larger bodies of water in the surrounding area. Holloway Reservoir and Mott Lake both offer suitable habitat for pike. Spring, right after ice-out, is an excellent time to target them as they're often found in shallow bays feeding aggressively. Fall is also productive as they prepare for winter. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all effective lures. Dead bait presentations can also work well, especially in the colder months. A local tip: focus on areas with weed edges and submerged timber, as pike are ambush predators. Be sure to use a wire leader to prevent bite-offs. The pike in this region can range in size, with some reaching impressive lengths. While trophy fish are possible, expect to catch pike in the 2-5 pound range on average.
