Northern Pike

Looking for some serious Northern Pike action? Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin offers an incredible opportunity, especially given its unique position on the Door Peninsula, with access to both the bay itself and Lake Michigan. Focus your efforts in the spring (post-spawn) and fall when pike are actively feeding in preparation for winter. As water temperatures change, pike will follow their forage. Early in the season, target shallow, weedy areas and gradually move deeper as the water warms. In the fall, look for pike near creek mouths and areas with abundant baitfish. A key to success here is matching your presentation to the available forage. Large, flashy spoons and crankbaits work well in murky waters, while more natural presentations, like swimbaits that mimic local perch or whitefish, can be deadly in clearer conditions. Don't be afraid to experiment with depth, especially as current and temperature fluctuations can significantly impact pike behavior. The Little Sturgeon Bay area is a popular access point with decent boat ramps.
