Rainbow Trout

While not a renowned trout destination, the streams and creeks surrounding Ilion, New York, do offer opportunities for rainbow trout, particularly in the spring and early summer. Spring (April-May), just after stocking, is the prime time to fish for rainbows, as they are often more readily caught. Small spinners, spoons, and live bait like worms or mealworms are effective.
