Striped Bass

While not as widely known for striped bass as some other Kentucky locations, Strathmoor Village provides opportunities to target these hard-fighting fish. The best bet is to head to the nearby Ohio River. Spring and fall are prime times as the stripers migrate, following baitfish runs. Look for areas where tributaries enter the river, creating current breaks and ambush points. Trolling large crankbaits or live shad is a popular and effective technique. Bank fishing access can be found at several points along the river, but a boat will greatly expand your options. Be aware of the Ohio River's fluctuating water levels, which can impact fishing conditions and access. The striped bass here tend to be strong and aggressive, often schooling, so when you find one, there are likely more nearby. Don't forget your Kentucky fishing license and any required Ohio River permits.
