Wahoo fishing near Amelia Island, Florida, means venturing offshore into the Gulf Stream. This area is known for its strong currents and abundance of pelagic species, making it a prime hunting ground for wahoo. Peak season is typically during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall, when the water temperatures rise and baitfish become more prevalent. High-speed trolling with lures or rigged ballyhoo is a common and effective technique. A key piece of local advice: check the sea surface temperature charts before heading out to locate areas with favorable conditions. The Nassau Sound inlet provides access to the Atlantic, but be mindful of strong currents and changing tides. Wahoo in this region are known for their speed and powerful strikes, so be prepared for an exciting fight.
