White Bass

While Paradise Valley itself doesn't have a renowned white bass fishery, a short drive to larger reservoirs like Lake Pleasant or Bartlett Lake will put you in prime territory. These lakes offer the open water and schooling baitfish that white bass thrive on. Spring is the peak season, when the whites move upriver to spawn. During this time, look for them near points, submerged structures, and areas with current. Small crankbaits, spinners, and jigs are all effective lures. A local tip is to watch for bird activity; diving birds often indicate schools of white bass feeding on shad. The white bass in these lakes can reach decent sizes, with some exceeding two pounds. Be prepared for fast-paced action when you find a school, as they are aggressive feeders.
