If you're looking for some fast-paced white bass action in North Georgia, Hoschton is a great starting point. Head to nearby Lake Lanier during the spring spawning run (late February through April) for the best chance at hooking into these feisty fish. White bass will congregate in the lake's upper reaches and tributaries as they move upstream to spawn. Focus your efforts around the mouths of the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers, as well as smaller creeks entering the lake. Trolling small crankbaits or casting inline spinners and jigs are effective methods. A local tip: check the water release schedule from Buford Dam before you go. A moderate current can concentrate the fish, but high water can make fishing more challenging.
