Brown Trout

While Genoa City isn't widely known for brown trout, some of the smaller streams and tributaries in the surrounding area do hold populations of these fish. Finding them requires a bit of exploration and research, but the reward can be well worth the effort. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target brown trout, as water temperatures are more favorable. Look for areas with deep pools, undercut banks, and overhanging vegetation. Small spinners, spoons, and live bait can be effective. Be aware that many of these streams are small and require a stealthy approach. Check local regulations regarding access and catch-and-release policies. A key to success is matching your lure size to the stream size -- smaller is often better. The brown trout in these waters are often wild and can be quite wary, but they are beautiful fish.
