Brown Trout

While not as widely known as some other areas, Lodi, Wisconsin, offers opportunities to pursue Brown Trout in some of the local streams that feed into the Wisconsin River. These smaller, often overlooked streams can hold some surprisingly large browns. Spring and fall are the prime times, coinciding with trout spawning activity and cooler water temperatures. Focus on areas with undercut banks, deep pools, and plenty of cover. Fly fishing with nymphs and streamers is a popular technique, but small spinners and spoons can also be effective. Access can be challenging, often requiring wading through brush and navigating uneven terrain. Be sure to check local regulations regarding catch-and-release and gear restrictions. The Brown Trout in these streams tend to be wary and easily spooked, so stealth and careful presentation are key to success. Look for areas with natural springs, as these areas often provide cooler water and attract trout.
