Brown Trout

Brown trout fishing near Lyndon Station requires a bit of a drive, but the rewards can be worth it. While not directly adjacent, the famed trout streams of central Wisconsin, like the Tomorrow River and its tributaries, are within a reasonable distance. These streams offer classic brown trout habitat: cool, clear water, undercut banks, and plenty of insect life. Spring (May-June) and fall (September-October) are the best times to target browns, coinciding with insect hatches and pre-spawn activity, respectively. A key tip is to focus on sections of the river with good cover, such as fallen logs and overhanging vegetation. Wading is the primary method of fishing, so be sure to wear appropriate gear and be mindful of private property boundaries. Brown trout in these streams are known for their wariness, so stealth and accurate casts are crucial for success.
