Brown Trout

While Pleasant Prairie isn't exactly a brown trout mecca, dedicated anglers can find opportunities to target these fish in some of the local streams that feed into Lake Michigan. These are often smaller, more intimate waterways that require a stealthy approach. Spring and fall are generally the best times to fish for browns here, coinciding with their spawning runs. Focus your efforts on areas with deeper pools, undercut banks, and woody cover, as these provide ideal habitat. Small spinners, spoons, or live bait like nightcrawlers can be effective. Be aware that water levels can fluctuate rapidly depending on rainfall, so check conditions before heading out. Also, be sure to consult the Wisconsin DNR regulations for specific stream closures or tackle restrictions. Access to these streams can sometimes be limited, so research public access points beforehand.
