Giant Trevally, known locally as Ulua, are a prized catch around Kapolei, offering thrilling battles for both shore-based and boat anglers. These powerful fish are ambush predators, favoring rocky shorelines, reefs, and harbors. While Ulua can be caught year-round, the cooler months often see an increase in their activity as they move closer to shore to spawn. For shore fishing, try using live bait or large poppers around prominent points and rocky outcroppings, especially during dawn and dusk.
