Hybrid Striped Bass

Targeting hybrid striped bass near Leakesville? While not as abundant as some other species, the Chickasawhay River does hold some nice hybrids, particularly around its confluence with the Leaf River. These fish are often stocked in associated reservoirs upstream, and some migrate downriver. The best time to target them is in the spring and fall, when water temperatures are cooler. Look for them near structure like submerged timber or rocky points, especially where there's current. Trolling crankbaits or casting swimbaits can be effective.
