Northern Pike

If you're targeting Northern Pike near Harmon, Illinois, the Rock River is your best bet. This section of the Rock offers the classic pike habitat they love: submerged timber, weed beds, and backwater sloughs. Spring, just after ice-out, is prime time as the pike move into shallower areas to spawn. Fall is also excellent as they aggressively feed before winter. For bank access, try the public areas around the Dixon area, a short drive from Harmon; be aware that river levels can fluctuate, so check conditions before you head out.
