Northern Pike

If you're after northern pike near Hennepin, Illinois, focus your efforts on the Illinois River backwaters and connected lakes. These areas offer the weedy, shallow environments that pike prefer, especially during the spring spawning season and the fall feeding frenzy. Look for areas with submerged vegetation, fallen trees, or other structure. Spring is particularly productive as the pike move into the shallows to spawn.
