While New Jersey isn't necessarily famous for its walleye fishing, Corbin City, surprisingly, offers a few opportunities for anglers willing to put in the time. The key is targeting the tidal portions of the Tuckahoe River and nearby tributaries. Walleye are relatively rare in South Jersey, so this isn't a numbers game. Focus on areas with current breaks, structure, and deeper holes. Spring and fall are the best times to target walleye here, with the cooler water temperatures triggering increased activity. Try casting crankbaits or jigs along the bottom, or trolling slowly with live bait rigs. Access can be tricky; many areas are best reached by boat. Look for public boat ramps along the Tuckahoe River. Be aware of the tides, as they can significantly impact water levels and current. Because the walleye population isn't huge, catch and release is highly encouraged to help maintain the fishery. Don't expect trophy-sized walleye, but the chance to catch one in this unique environment makes it a worthwhile endeavor.
