Walleye fishing near Wrightstown, New Jersey, presents a unique challenge and opportunity. While not as abundant as in some northern states, several lakes and reservoirs within driving distance are stocked with walleye and offer a chance to hook into one of these prized fish. Look to larger bodies of water like Assunpink Lake or Prospertown Lake. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target walleye, as they move into shallower water to spawn or feed before winter. Trolling crankbaits or jigs tipped with nightcrawlers along drop-offs and rocky areas can be effective. In the summer, try fishing deeper water during low-light periods. Access to these lakes is generally good, with boat ramps and shoreline access available. Be prepared for some competition from other anglers, especially on weekends. The walleye in this area tend to be smaller than those found in the Midwest, but a fish in the 3-5 pound range is still a respectable catch. Always check the New Jersey Fish and Wildlife regulations for size and creel limits, as they can vary by location.
